Thomas and Minnie Jacobson132 viewsA portrait of Thomas Jacobson and his wife Minnie. Point Lookout was Mr. Jacobson's only land assignment. He served at Point Lookout from 1912 until 1917, when he transfered back to a ship, the Cape Lookout Shoals Light Vessel No. 80. This picture was most likely taken in the 1930s.

Point Lookout by Boat109 viewsPoint Lookout looks like an island. The land around the lighthosue had more vegetation (trees) back in 1979. The turbulent waters at the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River confirm the need for a lighthouse to warn mariners.

D'arcy3355 viewsThis was D'Arcy's first visit inside the Lighthouse. We toured the lighthouse including both sides of the basement with Heather Hunter, Public Relations from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. This is the only photo from all the ones taken that day that is like this - it appears there is a figure standing directly behind D'Arcy which makes the photo look distorted.

Little Girl's Corner2915 viewsThis picture was taken at the open house. I "felt" the presence of a little girl in the small bedroom upstairs, next to the bathroom and closest to the stairs. I was hoping to capture something. She didn't "speak" to me, but I felt like she was melancholy because it was raining and she couldn't go outside to play.

128 viewsChantelle sits on top of the TV and entertainment center. The radio would frequently turn on and off and change radio stations with no human intervention. While sitting in the Living Room, Laura reports frequently hearing a woman singing upstairs, although she could not hear the words but it sounded like a friendly song.

William Yeatman, Jr (1931-1939)148 viewsThis is a picture of William Yeatman, Jr. from the late 1920s or early 1930s. He was the Assistant Keeper at Point Lookout from 1931 until he retired in 1939. Previously, William Yeatman, Jr. had been the keeper at Point No Point, Drum Point and Piney Point prior to moving back to Point Lookout. He took a volutary demotion to Assistant Keeper in 1931 to return to Point Lookout, most likely because he had previously lived in the lighthouse and wanted to raise his kids there (including Harry Yeatman, 1920-2001). The assignment to Point Lookout most likely did not carry a reduction in salary, but allowed William Jr more family time because most other lighthouses did not have a full time assistant keeper. This photo courtesy of Ted Yeatman, William Yeatman Sr's Great Grandson.
